We enjoyed a wonderful day yesterday with Brittany, Will and the boys.
Chuck and I were up early to attend our church’s sunrise service. This is the first time I’ve attended an early morning outside Easter service, and it was very nice.
When we arrived back home I whipped together a delicious breakfast of bacon, scrambled eggs and Ezekiel toast. I’m using a new technique on my eggs, and they turn out light and fluffy every time. I always like to add some grated Parmesan as well.
We hit the road a little before nine and drove first to Weatherford where we met up with Chuck’s Uncle Ted. Chuck’s Aunt Loree had something for the boys, Brittany and I, and we arranged to meet up in the Olive Garden parking lot.
It was great getting to visit with Ted again since it had been about a year since we had seen him in person. Right before the pandemic began we had met both his aunt and uncle at Panera’s, and hadn’t seen them since.
We then headed to Brittany and Will’s where we were met by two very excited boys dressed in super cute Under Armor polo shirts in bright Easter colors.
The boys were excited to receive chocolate bunnies, honey, and books from Mimi and Papa, and a bunny shaped container full of M&Ms.
We ate a delicious lunch of ribs grilled by Will, corn casserole (my favorite), slaw, and Rudy’s potato salad, followed by yummy banana pudding. (Magnolia Table recipe)
The boys dyed eggs after the little one woke up from his nap. Who am I kidding? He was joined by Chuck, Will, and Brittany. That 5:30 wake-up call had taken its toll.
I spent time reading some of the new books to my oldest grandson. He’s beginning to learn how to read, and did a good job helping me out.
After dying the eggs Chuck and Will hid a bunch of plastic candy filled eggs in the front yard. The boys had a blast hunting them. Later the youngest refund some so Will could hunt them.
Chuck and I left around four and headed out to our property. We wanted to measure out the area for the wood stove. When we got to the house we were able to see the foam insulation for the first time. We are definitely making progress.
It’s exciting to think that sheet rock is just around the corner. Before we left Chuck planted some boxwoods we had replaced at our house. He didn’t have the heart to just throw them out, since they appeared to want to live after getting stunted by the freeze.
We headed home with a quick trip through McDonald’s for dinner since it was getting to be around dinner time and it was a two hour drive home.
Easter blessings for sure.
