“Curiosity is, in great and generous minds, the first passion and the last.”
Samuel Johnson
According to Donald Latumahina of Life Hack, there are four reasons why curiosity is important and needs to be developed.
It makes your mind active instead of passive- because curious people are constantly asking questions their minds are always active. Our mind is like a muscle that will remain strong if it is exercised. “…the mental exercise caused by curiosity makes your mind stronger and stronger.”
It makes your mind observant of new ideas- curiosity peeks your mind to “expect and anticipate” new ideas. Without this awareness you may allow ideas to pass you by without even realizing it. “Just think how many great ideas may have been lost due to a lack of curiosity.”
It opens up new worlds and possibilities-by being curious you will be more open to things that might be overlooked by the less curious. “It takes a curious mind, to look beneath the surface and discover these new worlds and possibilities.”
It brings excitement into your life- “The life of curious people is far from boring.” For the curious life does not have to be dull or routine. Adventure is always right around the corner.
All of these reasons are easily attained even during our golden years. Find the things that peak your curiosity and let the sky be your limit.
