The Farm

This is a picture of our farm. It is thirty eight acres in beautiful northeast Texas. This has been a dream of my husband for as long as I have known him.

For years we would drive out to the country looking for a piece of land. Most of the time his "vision" was much stronger than mine when it came to possibilities. And then we happened upon this jewel. This building actually houses a small apartment. With a kitchen, bath and bedroom it is the perfect weekend get away. It also has a four car garage that houses his tractor and workshop.

This is actually the tractor that came with the farm. It has since been replaced with a shiny, new John Deere tractor. When we owned this tractor we had our own cows on the property. We would use the
tractor to deliver hay bales to the cows. I used to say a prayer every time my husband would try to start the engine in the dead of winter.

This is Red Bull. He was the big daddy of our herd. As far as bulls go he was actually quite docile. His favorite thing was for my husband to scratch his head and neck. We no longer own the herd. It just got to be too much work only being able to be there part time. But we have fond memories of our time together. This city girl really learned a lot about cows and they are amazing creatures. I'll save that post for another day.

Cooper

Meet Cooper, my not quite two year old miniature poodle. I have to admit I am quite smitten with him. After my daughter married and moved away, I found my empty nest a little too empty. He has been just the spark I needed. He keeps me laughing, forces me to walk as often as the weather permits, and snuggles next to me regularly. He is extremely intelligent and always comes running when I call him. As you can see I think he's pretty super!

Beginnings

Today is a first. The first posting on my blog. Covey says, "To start with the end in mind." I can't say exactly where that might be. But I do know that I needed to just start. So today is that first small step in a new beginning.
